3 Wise Men from the East

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

I’ve been going to London for trips for decades now, both as a tourist and for work. Some memorable ones include:

“apparently a woman rang the BBC and said she heard there was a hurricane on the way. Well, if you are watching, don’t worry there isn't”.

  • 2 weeks of sales training in 2000 when a colleague charged his bar tab to my room and;

  • being stuck in the capital without my luggage during the "Beast from the East" in 2018.

Teddy buys a teddy called, you guessed it, "Teddy"

Back in 1987, I was on a Cub trip to the south of England, we were looking forward to the day trip into London to see Madame Tussauds, the London Dungeon (which still scares me) and Hamleys. Unfortunately, one of the leaders was pick-pocketed by some unscrupulous chap and lost all of our pocket money. Talk about a single point of failure (SPOF). The only cash I had was just enough to buy a small teddy bear from Hamley’s called, ”Little Edward”. I should point out, this was not a Steiff bear and I have not been able to retire on the resale value of said Teddy bear. Looking back, this was clearly a sign of future narcissistic tendencies and something I should talk through with my therapist...

BFS - LGW

Back to the present day and we were fortunate to have another action-packed 5 days at Clevernet, including installs for our managed Wi-Fi solution and customer visits for our energy management solution, ECCO.

Three of the team also headed across the water to meet some clients and prospective clients, dusting off those maps of the London underground, brushing up on our Cockney Rhyming Slang, and wearing the extra baggy pants to indulge on copious amounts of jellied eels.

I hadn’t been to London since the end of 2019 and it was great to get back, the city was buzzing amid a throng of commuters and tourists going about their business.

London is the hottest market for Clevernet, our customers love both our solutions and our people.

Face 2 Face > The Dog & Bone (phone)

We will protect the anonymity of our clients/prospects and we were there to help save some “bees and honey”/ money.

One meeting, in particular, was very enlightening, with one person commenting on how they are being asked to provide data about how sustainable the property is from prospective customers.

Sustainability was one of the pillars of our conversations, alongside our Energy Conservation Measures (ECM’s).

I am still surprised to hear how many clients lack visibility on their bills and/or energy usage (ECCO can solve this).

Clevernet’s lump of ice (advice)

This is where we can help and help quickly. We found this time last year, both landlord and facilities management companies wanted to save money on energy and to save it quickly. Our expert team worked with customers to start their journey to be more sustainable and to save money using our magic mix of hardware, software and professional services.

New proposals are being signed off as we type this blog, with a clever plan with a very clever client to get ahead of the competition, more to be unveiled soon....

Clevernet's mission to turn London buildings “green” continues, other cities are very welcome to join the built environment revolution, our solution is more affordable than you may think.

The original title of this blog worked much better in my head...

"Les Sell-ables Land in London"

Les Miserable is a popular musical.... we were on a sales mission to London... et voila, “Les Sellables”. I’m here all week, please remember to tip your waiter and try the lobster.
